Heh (ה)

Heh, the fifteenth path, connects Chokmah and Tiphareth. It is the character "H" or "E".[1]

Heh is one of the twelve simple letters, which represent astrological signs. The simple letters are secondary directions, the edges of the box, connecting its faces. Its attributions are:

Yetsiratic Attribution[2] Constituting Intelligence, because it constitutes the substance of creation in pure darkness.

Heh also represents the concept of all things female, passive, receptive, negatively charged. ...Even though it connects the male (active) Chokmah to the neutral Tiphareth ... go figure.

As the second letter of the Tetragrammaton, it stands for Ain Soph (אינ סופ, the Limitless), the vessel into which the Light is poured during the Creation.

As the fourth letter of the Tetragrammaton, it stands for ... well, us: the created Universe, everything that is. You, me, the time and distance between us, the physical manifestation of All. By which, connecting it to the previous Heh, you discover that you are the vessel into which the Light is poured. Heh, you.

NOTE: In Hermetic Qabalah, Heh traditionally associates with the Emperor, because Heh is the fifth letter and the Emperor the fifth trump (counting the Fool as the first trump). However, Thelemites change this, associating Heh with the Star. The rationale for this is explained in Crowley's book The Book of Thoth, but simply stated, it is because Heh is a feminine principle and the Emperor is not a feminine card.

[1]I personally have never seen ה used as E except by Crowley, when he needed it to be so in order to make a word's gematria add up the way he wanted it to. This may be taken from correspondence with the Greek alphabet, where the fifth letter is Epsilon (Ε or ε).
